According to a report by CCTV Finance & Economics, the explosive growth in global demand for artificial intelligence (AI) computing power is driving the vigorous development of the traditional power equipment market, including transformers, with unprecedented force. Currently, transformers have been upgraded to become the indispensable "power heart" of computing infrastructure, and their global supply and demand situation is extremely tight. In major manufacturing hubs such as Guangdong and Jiangsu in China, a large number of transformer factories are operating at full capacity, with orders generally scheduled until the end of 2027. Compared to the significant extension of delivery cycles from 50 weeks to 127 weeks in the US market, Chinese enterprises have demonstrated remarkable advantages in delivery efficiency. According to the head of the enterprise, their delivery cycle is "less than one-fifth of that of European and American enterprises." This high-efficiency production capacity has supported the strong exports of China's transformer industry. Data shows that in 2025, China's total transformer export value reached 64.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 36%. China has become the world's largest transformer producer, with a production capacity accounting for about 60% of the world total, and has established a self-controlled system for the entire industrial chain from upstream raw materials to finished product manufacturing.
The underlying driving force behind the surge in transformer orders stems directly from the significant increase in electricity consumption brought about by the accelerated construction of computing power centers globally.Domestically,in 2025,the electricity consumption of data centers in Guangdong Province increased by nearly 30%year-on-year,with the electricity consumption growth rate of the Shaoguan computing power cluster exceeding 50%for several consecutive months.To meet this explosive energy demand,the construction of power grid infrastructure supporting the national"east data,west computing"project is intensively underway across the country.These projects not only highlight the crucial role of transformers in supporting the digital economy,but also drive the domestic transformer market to grow by over 20%year-on-year in 2025.Among them,orders for high-end products related to AI computing power and ultra-high voltage have accounted for over 35%,becoming the core engine of industrial growth.
